I've always heard the saying, "You're never too late to start," whenever I mentioned that I wanted to be a dancer. Next to being a beauty pageant queen is being a ballerina in my mind due to how graceful, beautiful, and whimsical they appear. I could watch ballerinas dance for hours as if they were the athletes of God.
In October of 2020, I decided to become a dancer and started looking into dance places for adults. Too often, it's said that you are always early enough to start dancing, but when it came to finding adult dance classes in my area, it felt like it was too late. I couldn't locate them for over a month, but I didn't give up. It was now or never!
I stumbled upon a place called En Pointe in Fishers, Indiana. I called, and a lovely lady picked up the phone and introduced herself and the establishment. I explained to her my love for dance, lack of experience, and willingness to learn. She welcomed me with open arms. From there, I fell in love with dancing. I wasn't concerned with being the best but focused on progress and happiness. I learned the language of ballet by attending ballet classes once a week. Soon the price of ballet became too much, so I bought a ballet bar at home and some videos where I continued to dance and learn. So far, the journey has been exciting and rewarding. To keep myself excited, I buy ballet outfits that make me feel like a ballerina.
