I recently tried out the Solid Heart Granny Square Pattern from Adorecrea.com, and I couldn’t resist sharing my experience. This pattern is such a beautiful way to add a cozy, heartfelt touch to blankets, pillows, or just about any handmade project.
With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, this pattern feels especially timely. It’s perfect for gifts, baby blankets, or even as a decorative addition to your living space. What I love most about this pattern is how approachable it is for crocheters of all skill levels. While it includes a few different stitches, the pattern flows naturally, and the finished square is absolutely adorable.
For my version, I chose two colors—one for the heart and one for the background square. Watching the heart slowly emerge in the center was such a satisfying moment. I followed along with the video tutorial provided by Adore Crea, which made the process much easier to understand. The written directions and video together were very helpful, especially as I was learning the pattern. It did take me about three tries before I fully got the hang of it, but once it clicked, everything came together smoothly.
In terms of materials, I used Big Twist yarn in medium weight (4) in the color Wine for the heart and Caron One Pound yarn in the shade Rose, also weight (4), for the background. I paired these with a 4 mm crochet hook. I also opted for slightly softer yarns to give the square a more plush feel. After finishing, I blocked the square to help clean up the edges and really make the heart pop. That final step gave the piece a polished, finished look.
This pattern has definitely inspired future projects. I can already imagine creating a full blanket made of heart squares or using smaller versions as accents for gifts and home décor. One of my favorite things about crochet is how customizable it is—different yarn choices, color combinations, or small stitch adjustments can completely change the personality of a piece.
